Gerontology Program

Welcome! The Gerontology certificate is designed for individuals interested in a short-term academic and professional development experience and those who have been working with senior citizens and have an academic degree in a related area. Graduates will have acquired an understanding of the physiological, psychological and socio-economic factors related to the aging process, the ability to identify the needs of an elderly person and match available sources of assistance to meet those needs and the interpersonal and communication skills appropriate for settings serving elderly populations. The curriculum requirements also include a cooperative work experience in the private or public sector working with senior citizens.
