Transfer Students
Students who are currently pursuing a degree at MCC and who are interested in receiving credit for course work from another accredited institution, or through CLEP (College Level Examination Program), must have a sealed, official college transcript sent to the MCC Admissions Office. An official transfer credit evaluation will be completed only after the transfer student has been accepted and matriculated into the College.
Transfer credit may be granted for comparable courses completed at accredited colleges and
universities in which a student has received a grade of
"C-" or better. Degree credit shall
be granted for all credit courses that are applicable to the objectives of, or equivalent to
the course requirements of, the degree program at Manchester Community College in which the
transferring student is enrolled.
For transfer equivalency information please refer to the counseling/transfer services website.
Regardless of the number of transfer credits that are accepted from other colleges, a student
must complete at least twenty-five percent of the minimum credit requirements for their program
of study at MCC.
Transcripts will be evaluated on a rolling basis. You may view your transfer credits on myCommNet Login, go to "Student Records" and select
"Academic Transcript".
In an effort to better serve our growing prospective transfer student population, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the Admissions Office will provide transfer students the opportunity to bring in official or unofficial transcripts for a preliminary evaluation. We hope that this service will provide prospective transfer students with appropriate information to facilitate your enrollment at MCC. Students should bring the preliminary evaluation when meeting with an advisor and/or present to the Registrar's office to register for classes.
Students who are attending, or have attended, a college or university and are interested in registering at MCC need only submit proof of prior college coursework (an unofficial transcript) at the time of registration as proof of having met course pre-requisites. It is not necessary to submit an official college transcript if a student is not pursuing a degree or certificate program at MCC.
Academic advisement for course and program selection is available through the MCC Advising Center, room L-108 on a walk-in basis on Tuesdays 1:30 - 3:30 pm and Wednesdays 10:00 am - 12:00 pm., or by calling the Counseling Center at 860-512-3320, to schedule an appointment. Students may also contact the Program Coodinator or appropriate faculty member for advising and program planning.
Advanced Placement Program
Advanced placement course credits may be granted to entering students on the basis of scores on the College Entrance Examination Board Advanced Placement Examination. Scores of 4 and 5 are granted degree credit for equivalent courses as determined by academic divisions. A score of 3, 4 or 5 will be acepted for the AP Biology exam. Please visit the college board website : www.collegeboard.com for additional information. All score reports must be submitted to the Admissions Office. For questions pertaining to specific courses, please call the appropriate academic division.
CLEP College - Level Examination Program
MCC follows the credit-granting CLEP scores recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) for transfer. An inventory of CLEP exams and credit granting recommendations are available at the College Board website. Please visit this website for CLEP testing information, score reports, and the location of testing centers. MCC is not a CLEP testing center. Students are responsible for having CLEP scores sent to the Admissions office for an evaluation.
