Alumni Get Reconnected to MCC at the Annual Homecoming Dinner

Back in 1986 a group of Hospitality alumni came up with a way to stay connected to MCC and each other in the form of a dinner. They felt it was important to have it at the same time each year. They arrived at the Monday night before Thanksgiving because many people travel "home" to be with family at that time of the year. The first annual Hospitality homecoming dinner was held in 1986 and has taken place each year on the Monday night before Thanksgiving at 6:00 p.m. The dinner was opened up to all MCC alumni in 2004.

One of the nice things about the dinner is that alumni who fall off of mailing lists because of moving, marriage and so on can always count on the Culinary Arts Center being open for them the same time each year. We have people who haven't been on campus for 20 years or more return on that night to see who else is there and the many changes that have taken place on campus. In recent years, of course, there has been a tremendous amount of construction of new facilities with more to come in the next few years.

A while back there was a series of commercials on the radio for a national motel chain. The commercials always ended with the words, "We'll leave the light on for you." It has become our mantra for the annual Homecoming Dinner. Will we see you in November?
