Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association (SGA) is a governing body of elected and non-elected students who represent the student body as a whole. Student Activity Fee (SAF) funds are used by the SGA to sponsor various clubs, organizations, activities and services. As the official voice of the student body, the SGA has the power to regulate the SAF, student clubs and to make decisions that affect all students.
The SGA provides students the experience and training in a democratic form of government. This group of students is charged with the duty of continuously expanding and coordinating a program of student activities; to stimulate interest and support in the development, assessment and execution of educational, social, cultural and recreational programs; and to develop communication amongst students, administration and faculty; in effect, to represent the best interests of the general student body.
The Student Government Association Executive Board (SGAEB) is composed of the following: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Student Advisory Committee (SAC) Representative (SAC Rep) and the SAC Alternate (Ex-Offcio). You must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, have earned at least three credits at Manchester Community College and maintain at least 12 credits at MCC to become an Executive Officer. The SGA office is located in the Lowe Building, room L149. SGA elections are held every April.
