Serials Solutions

This product links all the MCC full-text databases so that you can determine which database may provide full-text access to a particular magazine, journal or newspaper. For example, if you searched Galenet InfroTrac OneFile and found an article that it is not full-text in that database, you can use Serial Solutions and search under the title of the magazine, journal or newspaper to determine if the desired publication is available full-text in any of the other MCC Library full-text databases.

Database Descriptions

CQ Researcher

(1991-present) An excellent full-text source for in-depth information on topics of current interest, such as nuclear proliferation, world hunger, global warming and child labor. Each full-text article may include a pro/con discussion, photos, charts, graphs, a chronology of the issue and a bibliography.

EBSCO Hosted Databases:

EBSCO Hospitality & Tourism Complete
Covers scholarly research and industry news relating to all areas of hospitality and tourism.

EBSCO Academic Search Premier
An expansive database designed specifically for academic institutions, Academic Search Premier indexes and abstracts over 8,000 journals. Of the 8,000 plus titles, the database provides full text access for more than 4,500 publications, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. The topics range among all areas of academic pursuit including arts & literature, chemistry, computer sciences, ethnic studies, engineering, language and linguistics.

EBSCO MasterFILE Premier
This database provides access to full text articles from more than 2,000 magazines and journals covering a wide range of subject areas including general reference, business, education, health, general science and multi-cultural issues. In addition to the full text, this database also provides indexing and abstracts for more than 2,800 other publications. The database also features full text book reviews, biographies and primary source documents. An image collection of photos, maps and flags is also available.

EBSCO Newspaper Source
Newspaper Source provides selected full text for nearly 30 United States and international newspapers. The database also contains selected full text for more than 200 regional U.S. newspapers.

EBSCO Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition
Covering many medical disciplines with a strong focus on nursing and allied health, this database provides more than 550 scholarly full text journals, including over 400 peer-reviewed titles.

EBSCO Clinical Pharmacology
Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, nutritional supplements, herbal products as well as investigational drugs can be researched in this database, using either brand names or generic names.

EBSCO Business Source Premier
Covering virtually every business-related topic, this database provides full text access for more than 8,000 scholarly business journals and other sources. It also includes full text country economic reports and detailed company profiles for the world’s 10,000 largest companies.

EBSCO Regional Business News
The database provides full text articles from regional business publications within the United States. Approximately 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas are included.

EBSCO Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
This database is for those researching topics in psychology, psychiatry, behavioral sciences, anthropology, and observational/experimental methods. The database provides access to over 500 full text publications, most of which are peer-reviewed journals.

EBSCO PsycINFO
Created by the American Psychological Association, PsycINFO contains over 2 million citations and abstracts of journal articles, book chapters, books and dissertations in the field of psychology. Journal coverage goes back to the 1800s and it also includes international material selected from nearly 2,000 periodicals in over 24 languages. Although PsycINFO is not full text in itself, the database does provide links to full text articles available in other EBSCO databases.

EBSCO MEDLINE
Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE provides authoritative information covering the fields of medicine, nursing, health care, dentistry and veterinary medicine. MEDLINE searches over 4,800 biomedical journals for abstracts of articles and in some instances, a linked full text article is available.

EBSCO CINAHL
This database provides abstracts and a limited number of full-text articles obtained from nursing and allied health journals.

EBSCO Pre-CINAHL
A companion database to CINAHL intended to provide current awareness of new articles from nursing and allied health journals (no subject searching).

EBSCO Professional Development Collection
Designed for professional educators, this database provides full text access to more than 500 quality education journals, including more than 350 peer-reviewed titles. In addition to full text, Professional Development Collection also indexes and abstracts more than 900 journals.

EBSCO ERIC
ERIC, the Educational Resources Information Center, is an important database for educators and others researching in the field of education.

EBSCO History Reference Center
This comprehensive database covers from ancient to modern history of the world. The database provides access to thousands of full-text articles from reference books, encyclopedias, and history books as well as leading history magazines and journals. Historical documents, maps, photos and videos are also included.

EBSCO Science Reference Center
This comprehensive source covers a wide range of science-related topics including biology, chemistry, environmental science, health, medicine, physics and wildlife. The database provides full-text articles from leading scientific encyclopedias, reference books, magazines and journals. Biographies and images are also included.

GaleNet General OneFile
Covering from 1980 to the present, GaleNet General OneFile is an extensive general research and news database providing access to a wide range of subject areas, including business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports and technology. This database draws information from a vast array of magazines, scholarly journals and news services and includes millions of full text articles, many with images. It is updated daily.

GaleNet Expanded Academic ASAP
This is a comprehensive database for research in most subject areas, from arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology. This database includes an extensive collection of scholarly journals, news magazines and newspapers. Many articles are full text and images may be included. Expanded Academic ASAP provides coverage from 1980 to the present.

GaleNet Biography Resource Center
This is an excellent source that provides biographical information on over 320,000 people from throughout history, around the world and across all disciplines and subject areas.

GaleNet Business and Company Resource Center with Newsletters  
The database provides information on company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies as well as articles published in magazines, journals and newspapers.

GaleNet Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center
This is excellent source of information on current topics, featuring essays of opposing viewpoints.  For additional research on your search topic, click on the tabs at the top of the screen to obtain reference sources, relevant newspaper and magazine articles, as well as statistics, images and websites.

GaleNet Health and Wellness Resource Center and Alternative Health Module
This Resource Center can be used to find magazines, journals, newspapers, definitions, directories and information on a wide range of medical and health issues. The database also provides access to reference sources including a medical encyclopedia, a medical dictionary, and a drug and herb finder.

GaleNet Health Reference Center Academic
This database provides access to information covering the full range of health-related topics published in general interest health and fitness magazines, medical and professional periodicals, reference books and pamphlets.

GaleNet Literature Resource Center
This Resource Center provides full text access to biographies, bibliographies and critical analyzes of authors from every time period and literary discipline. The database covers more than 120,000 authors with in-depth coverage of the 2,500 most-studied authors.

GaleNet Informe!
A database of Spanish language magazine articles in full text covering a spectrum of topics including health, technology and current events.   

iCONN

Also known as the Connecticut Digital Library, iCONN is administered by the Connecticut State Library in conjunction with the Department of Higher Education and provides access to a wide range of information resources for all Connecticut residents.

LexisNexis

This very extensive database provides access to full text information from over 5,600 news, business, legal, medical and reference publications.

GaleNet Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center

This is excellent source of information on current topics, featuring essays of opposing viewpoints.  For additional research on your search topic, click on the tabs at the top of the screen to obtain reference sources, relevant newspaper and magazine articles, as well as statistics, images and websites.

ProQuest ABI/INFORM Dateline
This business database focuses on hard-to-find local and regional business news of large corporations, privately held companies, local start-ups, executive profiles, marketing, finance and industry news. Coverage: 1985-present.

ProQuest ABI /INFORM Global
The database searches nearly 1,800 worldwide business periodicals for detailed information on business and economic conditions, management techniques, advertising, marketing, taxation and more. Information is provided on more than 60,000 companies with business and executive profiles. Coverage: 1971-present

ProQuest ABI/INFORM Trade & Industry
This database provides access to more than 700 business periodicals and newsletters with a trade or industry focus. Coverage: 1971-present

Hoover's Company Records
Made available through ProQuest, Hoover provides information on more than 40,000 public and private companies and over 200,000 key executives.  

ProQuest Criminal Justice Periodicals
The database provides access to a comprehensive collection of U.S. and international criminal justice journals.

ProQuest Newspapers
This database provides access to newspaper articles in the Hartford Courant , New York Times , Washington Post , Wall Street Journal , Christian Science Monitor and Los Angeles Times . Full text coverage varies depending on the particular newspaper.

ProQuest Historical Newspapers Hartford Courant (1764-1922)
This database provides full text coverage for every single article published in the Hartford Courant from the first issue on December 3, 1764 (when it was The Connecticut Courant) through December 31, 1922.
 
ProQuest Historical Newspapers The New York Times (1851-2002)
This database provides full-text coverage for every single article published in The New York Times from September 18, 1851 through December 31, 2002.  The database will continue to grow as more years are added.
