Basic Library Instruction
- Basic Library Instruction
- Overview of library services and resources
- How to conduct library research using:
- MCC Library catalog to locate books and audiovisual materials
- Fulltext databases to locate & acquire articles from newspapers, magazines and journals
- Proper source citation (how to avoid plagiarism)
- Student information packets that include library card application, passwords
& written instructions on using the online catalog & full-text databases,
how to evaluate websites, subject guides, etc.
Tour (optional)
Research Only Session
- Instructor would like a librarian present to help students with research/No lecture
Specialized Library Instruction
- Librarian will tailor the session to instructor’s special needs (emphasize business resources/sociology assignments/geology resources/electronic resources only, etc.)
On-site Instruction
- Instruction session moves into the classroom(if classroom has the technology)
- If the classroom does not have the technology the librarian can emphasize a particular source of information per instructor
- Extra classes offered on World Wide Web Evaluation
- Proper Source Citation (Plagiarism issues)
Library Tour
- Includes a tour of the MCC Library facilities. Tours are conducted thoughout the year.
